This 250-Ohm version of the Beyerdynamic DT990 headphones is mainly designed for use in combination with hi-fi amplifiers and other fixed-installation audio gear with ample headphone power output.
Grab the 600-Ohm version for use in combination with extra-powerful headphone amplifiers.
It's NOT designed for mobile devices such as smartphones, laptops, USB-powered devices, etcetera. For use in combination with such devices, pick up the 32-Ohm version. While the 250-Ohm and 600-Ohm versions offer slightly improved mid-range and treble performance, this advantage is cancelled out if the device isn't able to deliver enough volume.

Beyerdynamic’s DT 990 PROs is a set of high-quality, open and dynamic studio headphones suitable for the most demanding professional audio applications. They have an open construction and a frequency range of 5 Hz to 35 kHz, which will give you clear, detailed sound without cutting you off from the outside world. The DT990 PROs produce a natural, balanced sound with a tight, sparkling mid and high-frequency response, making them ideal for audio playback and mixing.

DT 990 Pro: practical and comfortable

These stereo headphones only weigh 250 grams and come with a durable, adjustable headband. An extra set of soft velour ear pads are included to guarantee a comfy fit. The DT 990 Pros are also fitted with a flexible three-metre-long coiled cord that allows you to move around freely. The cord is equipped with a gilded 3.5mm mini jack connector. A 1/4-inch adapter is included so you can easily connect these headphones to your amplifier or stereo installation.
