It features a cardioid pickup pattern, which means that the M-Mic USB only captures sound coming from the side the grille faces while keeping any unwanted noise out. Also, while condenser microphones normally require a power source that usually comes from connected devices equipped with phantom power, this microphone is actually USB-powered, meaning all you have to do to directly record to a computer is plug in the included USB cable. To help you set it up optimally, Devine kindly include a shock mount and a desktop tripod (plus a screw thread adapter).
