The Electro Voice RE 27 N/D is a professional dynamic vocal and instrument microphone. It was designed for use in radio and TV for voice-overs and announcements, but it also great for use in the studio and for live amplification of instruments and vocals. It makes use of a unique neodymium alloy for both the magnet and the mounting of the capsule. This results in a higher sensitivity (up to 6 dB higher output signal) and allows the mic to process hard signals without distortion. The frequency response has also been greatly improved.

Comparable to a Condenser Microphone

The high sensitivity, great transient response and low self-noise of this dynamic microphone is comparable with the best condenser microphones. In order to minimize noise, a humbucking capsule has been used, which nullifies electromagnetic delays caused by lights or electronic devices. The Variable D technology eliminates the proximity effect, whereby this RE 27 N/D has a fully linear frequency response, whether the sound source is close to the mic or not.

Switches

The Electro Voice RE 27 N/D has two easy to operate bass roll-off switches. These can be used to set a sharp roll-off of up to 200 Hz, or to set a balanced roll-off. A third switch is available to weaken the treble boost, delivering a flatter response over the breadth of the frequency range. Furthermore, a built-in wind filter ensures that you can speak and/or sing close to the microphone without having issues with the pop that frequently comes with amplified plosives. Finally, the filter also functions as a shock mount for the capsule to eliminate handling noise.
