Like a physical summary of fifty years of 87-style microphones, the United Studio Technologies Twin87 large-diaphragm condenser is like a throwback dream. The original was released in Germany back in 1967 and has been a mainstay of the studio world ever since, all because of that distinctive character and 'forward' sound. Basically, this microphone is able to place lead vocals in the mix with minimum effort. Built using new-old-stock components, this model even features a switch to flip the response from Modern to Vintage. In Modern mode, the microphone takes on a high-end 21st century voicing, and in Vintage mode, you get that delicious 87-style sound - darker and with more rounded transients.
